Welcome

    Total Churches: 11,510
The Black church is truly the heart of the African-American community. In fact, you may say that it is the community. Throughout all of our struggles in American history, the Black church has been a constant in our evolution. It fed our hope during slavery and was our meeting place during the Civil Rights Movement. Through bombings and burnings, it stands strong, "steadfast and unmovable." With the good news of Jesus Christ, it is a beacon of light that shines on all those who are broken, weary, and downtrodden.
It serves as the center of the African-American community's spiritual growth and time will prove that the Black church will be the center of the African-American community's economic growth as well. There is no greater or more powerful institution that exists today for any group of people than that of the Black church.

Welcome to The Black Church Page, where we harness the power of the Internet to bring this community together.

The Just Shall Live By Faith

Scriptural Text: Psalm 91; Romans 1:17

September 11, 2001. As reported by the media and the "talking heads," truly a date that will “live in infamy.” As airplanes slammed into buildings, sirens wailed, people ran, and smoke, cries, and anguish filled the air; it did not take long for many to make the observation that the date of the disaster should be referred to as 9-1-1. Like no other time in civilized history, this was indeed, an emergency! Suddenly, it did not matter what race, socio-economic status, or religion of either the victims or the rescuers. Everybody – blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics, young, old, rich and poor, educated and illiterate – were in this piece together and if “blessed relief” was going to “do its thing,” then America at least had to feign being colorblind and status neutral...After seven years, it is high time for us to take an inventory of the aftermath of September 11th. Think about it - "seven" - a number that is identified with God's perfection and His completion...

Coretta Scott King's Life Is Celebrated In A One-Act Play In Davie

...So begins the somber, simple opening of A Song for Coretta. The one-act play, unfurling over 45 minutes, turns a historic moment into a theatrical experience that sends audiences back to the day when throngs of mourners paid their final respects. The production's powerful message is precisely what drew Gilda Pianelli to direct the drama, being held over two weekends at the University Center for the Performing Arts in Davie...The play features a cast of five African-American women, all students at the center. Their characters, of varying ages and experiences, find themselves exchanging stories and reflecting on how Mrs. King impacted their lives. The intergenerational dialogue, interwoven with themes of hope and finding common bonds, has been a project dear to Pianelli's heart. A longtime admirer of Coretta Scott King and her husband, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Pianelli said she searched for a script that pays tribute to the couple...
